A professional staffing company is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) to work a PRN/Contract position in a hospital located in Washington, DC. The Med/Surge RN is responsible for independently planning, coordinating, and directing those activities essential to the provision of quality nursing care for assigned patients; coordinating the medical plan provided by support service departments relating to the assigned patients; identifying and implementing nursing interventions and evaluates results, and demonstrating developing leadership qualities.

• Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.
• Educates patients on surgical procedures.
• Records patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays.
• Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must have a DC RN license
• Must have at least 2 plus years of experience in Med/Surg
• Must have a BLS
